Millpond Park Construction Update

Home Posted on November 24, 2025

11/24/2025- Phase One of Millpond Park is nearly complete and Phase Two is underway! In preparation for Phase Two, some items have been removed from around City Hall for safekeeping during the construction project. In the next few weeks, a large crane will be placed directly behind the Fenton Police Station so that work can be done to the raceway that is connected to the sluice gates on the millpond. In this construction zone, the Memorial Bench dedicated to Lexi Simon, the kayak sculpture located between City Hall and the Police Station, waste receptacles, the election dropbox, and other benches have been removed and are in storage until work is completed on this part of the project. These items will be reinstalled as soon as the work on the raceway is complete.

During Phase Two of the Millpond Park project, there is a sidewalk detour that begins at the intersection of South Leroy Street and Mill Street and extends to the intersection of South Leroy Street and East Ellen Street. This only impacts the sidewalk on the east side of South Leroy Street and pedestrians can use the flashing crosswalk near East Ellen and the crosswalk in front of City Hall by the Fenton Post Office to bypass the construction area. Behind the blue fencing, construction is beginning for the exciting upgrades to the west side of Millpond Park near the Gazebo. Residents and visitors can look forward to improved walkability around City Hall and up to the Gazebo with ADA ramping, viewing decking, picnic areas, a fishing pier, and improved seating areas for future concerts in the park.
