ChoiceOne Bank Trail Construction Update

Home Posted on November 24, 2025

The City of Fenton, City of Linden, Fenton Township, and The LAFF Pathway Committee are excited to announce the construction of the ChoiceOne Bank Trail located between the City of Fenton and City of Linden!  This project originated in 2016, and construction is already underway.

The ChoiceOne Bank Trail is a 1.88-mile, non-motorized shared-use path constructed of asphalt and wooden boardwalk along the north shore of Silver Lake.  The shared use path will run alongside Silver Lake Road, starting at Jennings Road in the City of Fenton and ending at East Broad Street/ Triangle Park in the City of Linden.

Z Contractors, Inc. out of Shelby Township has been awarded the project. Staging and construction are beginning November of 2025.  Work is planned through the winter months (as weather conditions allow) where construction of the wood boardwalk along Silver Lake will be the first stage of the project.  Asphalt paving of the remaining pathway will be installed in spring/summer 2026, with the project expected to be open for use in late summer, 2026.

Silt fencing has been installed along the edges of the construction area of the ChoiceOne Bank Trail. This week, remaining brush will be cleared that impacts the trail's path and the ground will be stripped for topsoil. Flagging and intermittent lane closures will begin today along Silver Lake Road around the curve of the lake so that equipment to form the pathway along the water can be completed. Working hours for this project are 7:00am-5:00pm. Both lanes of travel will be open during non-working hours at this time. Travelers along Silver Lake Road between the City of Linden and The City of Fenton can expect delays during these hours as flaggers let one lane of traffic travel at a time. Alternative routes are suggested during high traffic times and motorists should consider delays when making their travel plans.
