It's official: July 7th, 2023 is Tom Cole Day. At the July 5th City Council work session, Mayor Sue Osborn signed the Proclamation to celebrate Tom Cole's dedication to the community through this honor.
Detective Tom Cole has served the the Fenton Police Department for nearly 20 years as a Patrol Officer, five years as School Resource Officer, and most recently as a Detective. During his time in Fenton, Tom Cole has built trusting relationships with students, staff, administrators, and community members that admire him for his dedication to their care and safety. Tom's passion for service to the community fueled his partnership with Fenton Area Resource Referral (FARR) and created the Miracle on Sixth Street project that helped a local family in need. He is truly a Community Hero and as an expression of appreciation to Detective Cole, City of Fenton's Mayor, Sue Osborn, declared Friday, July 7th, 2023 as Tom Cole Day!
"I declare that on Friday, we all have ice cream!" Detective Cole said in response to his receiving this honor. "This is such a wonderful opportunity. I am fortunate to have spent the past twenty years working with my best friend, Chief Cross. We grew up and we've done everything together. This is an accomplishment for me, the department, and my family. This is amazing, thank you!"
In response, Mayor Sue Osborn said, "Well, you're pretty amazing! Thank you for all that you do." Detective Cole was recently honored unanimously as the Grand Marshal for the 31st annual Fenton Fourth of July Freedom Festival and will continue to serve the city he lives with pride!
