The Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission's Recycle Day collection on Aug. 23 is now closed. No more reservations are availabe. It will be the final Recycle Day event for the year.

Officials said the previous event, which was the first to require advance registration, significantly reduced the wait times for people dropping off materials.

Details
When: Tuesday, August 23, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Carman-Ainsworth MIddle School, 1409 Maple Road, Flint
Required: You must have proof of registration, either on paper or digitally. People without proof or registraiton will be turned away.
Information: More info is available by calling 810-762-7744, emailing Recycle@geneseecountymi.gov, or visiting the Recycle Day page.

The occasional Recycle Day events allow Genesee County residents to bring unwanted waste materials to this location during a designated timeslot. Recycle Day staff are available to assist attendees in navigating the site and unloading items from vehicles. Appliances and tires will not be collected at the Recycle Day event.

“It is encouraging to see so many residents who want to recycle their hard to dispose of items; every participant makes these events possible. All items that are collected at Recycle Day are properly disposed of, so they do not end up in the County’s landfills,” said Derek Bradshaw, Director of the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission. During the July collection event, approximately 580 residents attended, and 82,494 pounds of waste was collected.
