At the present time, the City of Fenton reads water meters for billing on a quarterly basis. Meters are read in the months of March, June, September and December with bills being send out in April, July, October and January. These bills are due by the 17th of the month without penalty, after that date there is a 10% penalty added to each bill.
At the present time, water is billed at a rate of $4.10 per thousand gallons used. With this water bill you will also see your sewer charges on the bill. Sewer is charged at a rate of $3.29 per thousand gallons used. Base charges of $26.00 for water and $20.00 per sewer are also included within your water bill and a $13.50 recycling charge goes with all of these. Therefore, you have a bill of $59.50 to start at without any usage charges.
The City is in a water meter replacement program and are upgrading to electronic readers for our meters. This means we can read meters without entering homes and can read them at a much faster rate. If you have an old meter, look for a city water department employee to contact for the exchanges which are taking place.
An item that always effects the City is, when people move they do not call for a final reading on their bills. Or, when people move out of apartments, the names do not get changed to the new resident. If you call our Water Department at 810-629-6347 that information can be changed by our billing Clerk, Shang Shukri, and any questions on your bill can be answered by her at that same number.
