Benjamin Smith was elected to a 4 year term on Fenton City Council in November 2009. He was appointed by the Mayor to serve as Council representative on Fenton Parks and Recreation Board and the Fenton Planning Commission. Ben also serves as a representative on the regional committee for Genesee County Small Cities and Villages. Prior to his tenure on Fenton City Council, Ben served on the Parks and Recreation Board for over 5 years and Planning Commission for 3 years. He has volunteered with Fenton Beautification Commission, the Shiawassee River Clean-up, Fenton’s 175th Anniversary Committee and the launch of Fenton Farmer’s Market. An independent tire distributor for over 40 years, Ben has been involved with various tire related associations and advisory boards throughout his career.

Born in Flint, Ben has moved to the Fenton area in 1985, moving to the City of Fenton in 1992. He attends Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc. Ben and his wife Cherie have been married since 1972 and share their home with 2 cats and a very spoiled Scottish terrier.
