The City of Fenton will be replacing an old 12 inch cast iron water main with a new 12 inch ductile iron water main along Adelaide and North Roads from South Holly Road to Oak Park. This section of the water system is susceptible to breaks and is a critical link between the water treatment plant and the storage tanks.
Due to the size of the project, it will be constructed in two phases. The first phase is anticipated to begin near the end of July 2010 from South Holly Road to Silver Lake Road. Phase 2 will resume in the spring/summer of 2011 from Silver Lake Road to Oak Park. Along with the water main replacement, the entire roadway along Adelaide will be repaved. Sidewalk ramps will be removed and replaced to meet current ADA requirements. The entire width of North Road will be resurfaced from Adelaide to Oak Park.
The City is utilizing Transportation Improvement Program funding from Genesee County to offset a portion of the repaving costs of Adelaide. The project will also include the installation of a 400 foot water main connection from the Whisperwood Condominiums to the adjacent subdivision to create a looped water system.
The construction cost is estimated to be $3,250,000.
