Did you know that the State of Michigan enacted a law on January 1, 2001 that allows for a parent to surrender an infant (no more than 72 hours old) to an emergency service provider. This would include firefighters, police officers, EMS workers, and hospitals.
This means, quite simply, that a parent(s) of a newborn no more than 72 hours old can safely, legally and annonymously surrender an infant to any hospital, fire department, police station, or call 9-1-1.
This law was created in response to the significant number of newborn infants being abandoned by their parents.
